Walk Xizhou at village scale

Begin with Xizhou’s streets and courtyard façades. Look at the relationship between lanes, entrances and everyday shops before heading for a single photo landmark. Some courtyards are private homes, others have their own admission. Ask before entering or photographing residents closely.

Order a small local meal

Ask about Xizhou baba, 喜洲粑粑, in sweet or savoury versions. Rushan, 乳扇, is dairy, while rice-based snacks may still contain other ingredients in the filling or cooking fat. Check portions and ingredients before ordering several snacks. Leave time to sit rather than buying everything on the way past.

Arrange a tie-dye visit in Zhoucheng

Zhoucheng, 周城, is a separate village outing associated with Bai tie-dye. If you want to participate, confirm a working studio, teaching language, session length and what you can take away. A retail stop and a hands-on class are different visits. Ask the host what photography is welcome.

Keep the day locally focused

Use a driver or locally confirmed connection when adding Zhoucheng. Agree the return to your Dali base and clarify whether guiding, the workshop, food and purchases are separate costs. The experience described here is a reference idea, not a confirmed class or a scheduled group departure.
