Eight days through northwest Yunnan
A rail-based outline with two-night stays, town walks and time for one local outing in each area.
Green Lake, the Military Academy museum and old-city streets make an easy introduction to Yunnan.

Green Lake, 翠湖, is a useful focus for a gentle arrival day. Walk a portion of the park, stop for a meal in the surrounding streets and adjust the day to your arrival time. The Yunnan Military Academy museum, 云南陆军讲武堂, is on Cuihu West Road; check its current visiting arrangements before combining it with the park.
The Kunming Old Street area, 昆明老街, and the Nanping pedestrian area offer another city walk. Pick a few streets and a meal rather than assuming every named landmark belongs in one short outing. Keep the exact hotel address in Chinese and use local transport when the walk would become tiring.
Kunming station, 昆明站, and Kunming South, 昆明南站, are different departure points. Changshui Airport, 长水机场, needs its own city connection. Match your hotel and pickup to the actual ticket rather than a general “Kunming transfer”. Allow airport or railway formalities as well as the journey to the terminal.
The Stone Forest and wider Dianchi lakeshore are separate choices beyond this compact city introduction. Decide whether you want another Kunming night or to continue towards Dali. For a late flight arrival, stay near a practical connection and begin the regional journey after rest rather than forcing a tight same-day transfer.
