Overview

Separate arrival from sightseeing

Treat the arrival transfer, the park visit and the onward journey as separate pieces. A railway station or airport carrying a regional name is not the park entrance. Check the exact destination, transfer meeting point and arrival time before choosing your hotel night.

Make the park day work

Confirm the current ticket channel, passport requirements and operating arrangements with the scenic area. Internal transport and walking sections need to be planned together. Pack layers and rain protection, choose a sensible walking pace and follow the day’s designated routes. Photographs from another season do not predict the colours you will see.

Understand the Y-shaped valley

Shuzheng Valley forms the lower stem; Rize and Zechawa are the upper branches. Five Flower Lake and Pearl Shoal belong to the Rize side, while Long Lake and Five Colour Pool are on the Zechawa side. Use this simple layout to choose your priorities. Shuttle dispatch and open walking sections determine the actual order on the day.

Stay near the park, not just the county name

Zhangzha and the park-entrance area are useful search terms for a sightseeing stay. Jiuzhaigou county town is a different location, so compare the exact hotel pin with the park gate. Ask whether the property has heating, breakfast before departure and a transfer to the entrance. A mountain-view room is less useful than a workable morning connection.

What to carry for a park day

Carry your booking document, layered clothing, a rain shell, water and comfortable shoes suitable for wet boardwalks. Download the hotel address and your return meeting point before entering. Choose a few walking sections rather than measuring success by every named lake. Confirm the last return arrangements locally and leave time for queues at transfer stops.
