Eight days through northwest Yunnan
A rail-based outline with two-night stays, town walks and time for one local outing in each area.
Dukezong’s streets, Songzanlin Monastery and the changing wetland landscape around Napa Lake.

Shangri-La is a higher stop than Dali or Lijiang. Begin with a gentle walk in Dukezong, 独克宗, and time for a meal near your accommodation. Guishan Park and its prayer-wheel area are part of the town visit, but stairs can feel different after arriving at altitude. Keep the first day flexible and rest when needed.
Songzanlin, 松赞林寺, is an active religious setting as well as a major visitor destination. Use the current visitor entry arrangements, allow time for steps and ask about photography inside halls. A local guide can explain what you are seeing and the etiquette of the visit. Religious activity takes precedence over a planned photograph.
The area around Napa Lake, 纳帕海, changes with water levels and the season. Plan a few authorised viewpoints and village stops rather than expecting one fixed lake outline from a photograph. Keep vehicles on permitted roads, avoid entering wet ground and arrange the return transport. Ask about any optional activity before accepting it, including its price and provider.
Compare heating, hot water, room access and the distance from a vehicle drop-off when choosing an inn. If adding Pudacuo, 普达措, allow a separate park day and check which visitor areas are open. Two nights provide an introduction to town and nearby sights; add time rather than combining every place with your arrival or departure.

Rail for the northwest towns, road time for Lugu Lake and precise meeting points for the last part of each journey.
