Start with a small breakfast

Ask your host or guide for a nearby breakfast street that is operating on the day. Look for baozi, 包子, steamed filled buns; doujiang, 豆浆, soy milk; or a bowl of noodles. Order a small amount first and check the filling. Chinese food names help with ordering but do not replace an ingredient conversation when allergies matter.

Walk a working market at its own pace

Choose a market near your accommodation with help from someone local instead of making a long trip to an unverified address. Keep aisles clear, ask before close-up photographs and distinguish shopping stalls from places serving ready-to-eat food. A guide can explain seasonal produce and everyday cooking without turning sellers into a staged attraction.

Finish with tea, not another transfer

If People’s Park is convenient for your base, continue there; otherwise choose a nearby teahouse recommended locally. Check the menu, price and what a pot or cup includes before ordering. Keep enough time to sit. The point is a manageable morning in one part of the city, not a promise of access to a particular table or host.

Arrange a guide for context

Share your accommodation area, preferred language, food restrictions and walking pace. Ask the guide to confirm the market and breakfast meeting point shortly before the visit. Clarify guiding fees and whether purchases and food are paid separately. This is an experience outline, not a scheduled departure or a prepaid food tour.
